As she was completing her degree in painting and printmaking, she began her love of painting and cutting hair. After earning her BFA, Christy continued her career at the top salons in the Richmond area, quickly becoming a master stylist, color specialist, cosmetology instructor and an education team leader. Christy has since become a mom and the business owner of Salon Solstice. Christy’s specialty lies in hair color and she excels at blending hair texture with the placement of the color. Christy’s diverse background of color began by attending classes at Framesi Color College in Barcelona, Wella World Studio in New York City and countless color classes with Aveda, Logix, Schwarzkopf, Paul Mitchell, Redkin, Keune, and Davines. Her cutting experience includes multiple classes by Bumble & Bumble in New York City and most recently a three-day intensive class by the London based company Alilon. Christy is precise and consistent, and thrives at adding texture, mobility, and edginess to hair. At the beginning of her career, Christy was known to do TV makeovers and work on stage at VCU fashion shows. Today, Christy enjoys being a mom and going to swim meets and soccer games with her amazing wife.
